Waiting for the Criminal Check Result..how long should i wait? did i really get hired?

I had a successful interview last week Friday June 17,2011, i was told about the schedules, orientation and training day schedules who I'm gonna be working with how,what . Now that i passed the interview and signed a Criminal Check Record form. He told me that it will take 5 days till the result comes back and when it comes back i shall go to the orientation and begin training. Is this a sure hire? if you had the same experience how long did you wait?
